Changelog Feed

Follow the changelog in any feed reader, and AI agents can now read our key pages as markdown.

You no longer have to remember to check back here. The changelog now comes to you, and it's easier for your tools to read too.

  • Subscribe in any feed reader. Every new release and website update now has an RSS feed you can follow. Add it to your feed reader, and new entries show up with their full notes and working links. Look for the Subscribe link under the months on this page.
  • Readable by AI agents. This page and our license, plans, privacy, and refunds pages are also published as markdown, so an assistant asked about Font Awesome gets the real answer instead of a blank page.

Plan Add-ons

Add Kits, custom icons, pageviews, bandwidth, or seats to your plan without changing plans.

Need a little more room without moving to a bigger plan? Head to the Add-ons page. Every change lands in one order summary with one checkout, and you can scale an add-on back at renewal. You'll also see the option right when you hit a limit.

Icon Wizard Duotone

The Icon Wizard now makes duotone icons, with multi-layer select and undo history.

The Icon Wizard just learned a second color, and picked up a few other tricks along the way.

  • Duotone icons. Split your creation into two tones and watch it render like every other Duotone icon in the library.
  • Multi-layer select. Grab several layers at once and move or duplicate them together, instead of one at a time.
  • Better controls. Type an exact value and send any control back to its default with a single click.
  • Nudge UI. New arrows around the canvas shift the selected layer without reaching for the keyboard.
  • Undo history. Wandered down the wrong path? Step back through your changes until it looks right again.

Icon Search Redesign

Icon search is rebuilt with a pack rail, a tighter grid with hover actions, and search that understands plain-language descriptions.

Icon search has been rebuilt around the thing you actually came for: finding the right icon, fast.

  • A rail down the side gives every pack its own place, so you can jump straight to Classic, Sharp, Duotone, or any of the Pro+ packs and see that pack on its own. Styles sit right above the results, one click away.
  • The grid is tighter and quicker to scan, with bigger icons, less space between them, and the actions you want on a cell (copy the markup, grab the SVG, drop it in a Kit) right there when you hover.
  • Filtered yourself into a corner? If your icon lives in a different pack, a different plan, or another category, you'll see it in its own section under the results, with a one-click way to go there.
  • When nothing matches at all, you get four ways forward instead of a dead end.
  • Search now reads for meaning, not just wording, so describing what you need in plain language can turn up icons that never use your exact words.

Kit Package Rebuilds

Rebuild a Kit's package yourself from its Package view, instead of asking Support.

If your Kit's package looks stale or broken, rebuild it yourself from the Kit's Package view. It's the digital equivalent of turning it off and on again, and you no longer need to ask us to do it for you. Find it in your Kits.

Icon Wizard 2.0

Icon Wizard 2.0 lets you combine and remix icons, build custom characters, and add your creations straight to a Kit.

A wizard arrives precisely when he means to, and Icon Wizard 2.0 has arrived. Combine and remix icons into something all your own: stack on modifiers and elements, or conjure a custom character in the User Blender. Then drop your creation straight into your Kit, download it, or share it with a link. Try the Icon Wizard or read the docs.

7.3.1

New icons, plus fixes for brand icons missing from Free and a few 7.3.0 icon glitches.

Added

Fixed

  • These new brand icons were introduced in 7.3.0 but were mistakenly excluded from Font Awesome Free: visual-studio, dolibarr, obs-studio, storybook, a11y-project, copilot. Those responsible have been sacked, and the icons have been freed.
  • The new meerkat icon in 7.3.0 somehow got a capitalized name alias of "Suricata", though all names are supposed to be lowercase.
  • Some new Slab Duo icons looked already-pressed in 7.3.0, like their Slab Press Duo counterparts: box, bug. They've been un-pressed.
  • The primary and secondary layers for the gear icon in Jelly Duo Regular were swapped.
  • These seal icons were redesigned and rotated: seal, seal-exclamation, seal-question.

Changelog Refresh

The changelog gets a month-by-month sidebar, type filters, and website updates alongside Icon Library releases.

We're going full inception on this one and posting a changelog entry about a change to our changelog. Among the changes:

  • A month-by-month sidebar
  • Filter changelog entries by type: All, Icon Library, or Website
  • Website updates now share the feed with the Icon Library
  • Tooting our own horn just got easier

New Plans

Three new plans, Starter, Solo, and Team, with nothing changing for current subscribers.

We've simplified our plans to better fit how folks actually use Font Awesome, whether you're one person with a side project or a whole team shipping constantly. The new lineup: Starter, Solo, and Team. Details on our plans page.

Already a subscriber? Nothing changes for you. Your current plan stays exactly as it is. Same price, same limits, same features. Questions? We've got answers.

Bulk Icon Import

Paste a list of icon names to add them all to a Kit at once, with typos flagged before you import.

Bringing an existing icon list to a Kit used to mean adding icons one at a time. Now hit Import Icons on your Kit, paste the list (one name per line, and don't sweat stray fa- prefixes or quotes), preview the matches, fix any typos we flag, and add the whole batch in one go. One paste instead of 750 clicks. Your mouse thanks you.

Icon Animations and Padding

The icon detail page adds flip, buzz, float, jello, swing, and wag animations, plus square and roomy padding controls.

The icon detail page picked up a batch of new animations, including flip, buzz, float, jello, swing, and wag (tail not included). There are also new padding controls for square and roomy canvases, because even icons appreciate a little personal space. Every option applies live to the preview and drops straight into your code snippet. Try them from any icon in icon search.

7.3.0

Three new Pro+ packs (Pixel, Mosaic, and Vellum), Slab Duo styles, and six new animations.

Added

  • Three new Pro+ icon packs!
    • Pixel: It's hip to be square. Before high density displays, the mighty pixel was king. FA Pixel takes you back to the halcyon days of yore, when quarters held your place at the arcade and computers only had 128kb of memory. If you're prepping your next plumbing adventure or space invasion, Pixel is ready to byte.
    • Mosaic: All the pieces are coming together. Icons are little art pieces constructed from many elements, and FA Mosaic is no different. Master craftsman Josh Williams breaks the mold with this pack, blending solid forms, swoopy curves, and fun little sprinkles he lovingly calls "quirks."
    • Vellum: Layers of depth. Here at Font Awesome, we like our icons like we like our jokes: layered. Guest designer Brian Brasher guides you amongst these overlapped slabs of significance for a pack with real dimension.
    • Each pack is available with a Pro+ subscription.
  • New Slab styles!
    • Our sturdy, blocky Slab pack gets two new family styles: Slab Duo and Slab Press Duo. Add some depth and a second layer of color to icons that feel bold and ready for action.
  • New animations!
    • Inspired by Disney's 12 Principles of Animation, we added six new animation utilities so your icons don't just move, they have personality: fa-buzz, fa-wag, fa-float, fa-swing, fa-spin-snap (with fa-spin-snap-4 and fa-spin-snap-8 variants), and fa-jello.
    • Each new animation follows our existing custom property naming convention and works out of the box without setting any properties.
    • All animations continue to respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting.
    • See them all in action in the animation documentation.
  • New canvas sizing classes!
    • Two new opt-in utility classes let you drop any icon onto a predictable, square canvas, perfect for icon-only buttons and design-system layouts.
    • fa-canvas-square adds vertical padding so an icon fills a square canvas (20×20 at 1em).
    • fa-canvas-roomy adds a bit more padding for layouts that want extra breathing room (24×24 at 1em).
    • Both use em units, so the canvas scales right along with your icon size.
  • New Icons!

A few fresh additions to the family: envelope-heart, file-md, file-txt, and meerkat.

  • New Brands!

Added a batch of the most-requested brand icons: a11y-project, build-awesome, square-build-awesome-stroke, codeberg, copilot, devpost, dolibarr, internet-archive, lets-encrypt, matrix, mattermost, nextcloud, obs-studio, roblox-creator-studio, ror, storybook, substack, tesla, visual-studio, xrp, xrpl, and youtube-shorts.

Changed

  • Better motion for existing animations. We refined the keyframes for six of our existing animation utilities for motion that feels more alive: fa-bounce, fa-beat, fa-beat-fade, fa-fade, fa-flip, and fa-shake. Same class names, same custom properties, just better motion.
  • Brand refreshes. Updated a few brand icons to match their latest logos: github for GitHub's 2026 brand refresh, android to match current brand standards, and threads for Threads' updated logo.

Fixed

  • The Etch circle-question icon wasn't quite right. It is now.
  • The solid and regular styles of fingerprint were identical. They're now their own unique selves.
  • Cleaned up some inconsistencies between the solid box icons.
  • Fixed a vertical misalignment on the solid battery-empty icon.
  • The Duotone Thin game-board-simple icon had a secondary tone spilling outside the lines. We tidied it up.
  • The Duotone Light opossum icon wasn't actually duotone. Our 'possum now has two tones, as nature intended.
  • The Duotone toolbox icon was showing just the line art for its fill. The fill is back where it belongs.

Kit Page Redesign

The Kit page is reorganized into three tabs, with settings and downloads in quick drawers and the embed code always in view.

We tidied the whole Kit page around what you use most. Five tabs are now three (Icons, Custom Icons, and Configure), settings and downloads tucked themselves into quick topbar drawers, and your Kit's embed code now sits above the tabs, always one copy away. Everything in its place, and not a single sock drawer in sight. Check it out on your Kits.

Cancellation Flow

Canceling now shows exactly what changes at renewal and offers alternatives like switching plans.

We reworked subscription cancellation into a two-screen flow that shows exactly what changes at your renewal date, offers alternatives like switching plans or getting help, and asks a quick optional reason if you do decide to cancel. You'll find it under billing in your account.

Overage Warnings

Your account now shows a banner when Kit pageviews or bandwidth run over your plan, with a clearer breakdown on the billing page.

We've always let you know when your usage is heading past your plan's limits, and now you'll see it in your account too. Check the breakdown on your billing page. Surprises are for birthdays, not bills.

Kit Creation Wizard

Making a Kit now takes two steps, with a one-click Quick Start for anyone who wants to get going right away.

Making a new Kit got a lot shorter. Choose Quick Start and you're done in one click, or pick your styles and delivery method yourself in two steps. The package option moved to the final step, right where you'd look for it. Start one from your Kits.

AI Agent Tools

Official agent tools let Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and other AI assistants set up Font Awesome, suggest icons, and add them to your project.

Your AI coding assistant can now speak fluent Font Awesome. The docs got agent-friendly too, with a Markdown version of every page. These are the droids you're looking for, and they start in the AI agent tools docs.

7.2.0

A new Pro+ pack, Graphite, plus moon phase icons, zodiac symbols, new brands, and brighter sun icons.

Added

Fixed

  • Adjusted the placement of the plus, minus, and xmark on our user-plus, user-minus, and user-xmark icons to be more legible at smaller sizes.
  • The rails on our Duotone train-track icons were mistakenly under the sleepers. We apologize to any trains that may have tried to use them. They've been fixed.
  • Some of the Sharp versions of our helmet-safety icon had round corners. No longer!

Changed

Email Preferences

Turn our marketing emails on or off from your account settings, without missing account emails.

Pick the emails you want from the Email Preferences section of your account settings. Unsubscribing from marketing emails never stops the important ones, like password resets and overage alerts, so you won't miss anything that matters.

Teams

Invite teammates to your account and give each one a role: owner, admin, editor, or billing.

Font Awesome is better with friends. Invite teammates from the Team tab in your account, and they get their own sign-in on your plan. No more passing one password around the office.

  • Owners have full control and can make another teammate an owner.
  • Admins can do everything an owner can, except make someone an owner.
  • Editors manage Kits and tokens, but not billing or the team.
  • Billing folks handle invoices and payments, and nothing else.

7.1.0

A new Pro+ pack, Utility, plus new icons and caret icons back at their version 6 size.

Added

  • New Pro+ icon pack: Utility!
    • The new pack offers a curated set of the 200 most commonly used icons for app and website design. Available with a Pro+ subscription.
    • Now available in 3 families: Utility, Utility Duo, and Utility Fill.
  • We added some new icons, including:

    • the tor-browser logo,
    • a compelling newpump-impeller icon,
    • a gnarly new hand-shaka icon,
    • a weighty new kettlebell icon,
    • a mercurial new foot-wing icon,
    • a collared new chemex icon,
    • and an im-press-ive new aeropress icon.

Fixed

  • Fixed a number of icon-related issues:
    • Removed some errant vertices in the Light style of our certificate icon.
    • Re-filled the heads of the people in Solid and Duotone styles of our screen-users icon.
    • Actually unlocked the lock of our school-unlock icon in Duotone Solid and Sharp Duotone Solid.

Changed

  • Reverted our caret icons back to smaller Version 6 proportions, and added new caret-large icons.

7.0.1

Clearer check and exclamation icons, new icons, and fixes for Safari and desktop fonts.

Added

  • Introduces CSS custom property --fa-width for standardized width management in stacked icons.
  • We added some new icons, including:
    • a juicy new lychee icon,
    • a fancy new envelope-ribbon icon,
    • a neighborly new mailbox-open-empty icon,
    • a freshly delivered mailbox-open-letter icon,
    • a chunky new tank-recovery icon,
    • a zappy new transducer icon,
    • and a nosy new box-magnifying-glass icon.

Fixed

  • Fixes a Regular Expression that caused errors in older versions of Safari when using SVG JavaScript pseudo-elements.
  • Fixes content alternative (when using the content: var(--fa) CSS attribute) with Safari 14.1 specifically (and maybe others) by adding @supports to target browsers that support it.
  • Fixes a Windows font family grouping problem when using OTF Desktop files.
  • Fixes style-only (no family specified) icon CSS classes not rendering icons when using dom.watch().
  • Fixed a number of icon-related issues:
    • Fixed issue with where our beta and rectangle-high-dynamic-range icons were missing some Duotone fills.
    • Fixed a missing cutout in the Solid styles of our screwdriver-wrench icons.
    • Our new stadium icon in Sharp Solid was showing the wrong style.
    • Our pencil, pencil-line, and motorcycle icons had the wrong fills in some Duotone styles.
    • The cheese-swiss icon had a few too many holes glitches.
    • Fixed our Duotone mango icon.
    • Fixed issues with our box-arrow-down-magnifying-glass and box-arrow-down-arrow-up icons.
    • Removed extra bars in our signal-weak icon.
    • Fixed a missing fill in the Regular style of our dot-circle icon.
    • Fixed issues with envelope-open-dollar, filter-circle-dollar, and filter-circle-xmark.

Changed

  • Solved the case of the shriking checkmarks and adjusted the sizing and legibility of all of our icons that contain a check.
  • Took a similar approach and tweaked the design of our exclamation icons.
  • Updated the design of our stretcher icon to look more like a stretcher.
  • Adjusted the design of our peruvian-soles icons to remove the outdated dot.
  • Remapped the design of our oil-temperature icon to a new water-temperature and redesigned the original.

7.0.0

Font Awesome 7: redesigned core icons, 300+ new icons, seven new Pro+ packs, and smaller, faster files.

Added

  • Introducing Font Awesome 7!
    • The next version of the internet's favorite icon library and toolkit has arrived. It includes more icons, improved performance, and new ways to make your designs look amazing.
    • Redesigned core icons. We've refined the majority of our core icons with more consistent key shapes.
    • 300+ new icons. This first release of Font Awesome 7 delivers a large batch of fresh icons, with more coming soon.
  • New Pro+ icon packs!
    • Each pack offers a curated set of the 200 most commonly used icons for app and website design. Available with a Pro+ subscription.
    • Now available: Chisel, Etch, Jelly, Notdog, Slab, Thumbprint, and Whiteboard.
    • Additional icon packs are on the way.
  • Icon Wizard improvements!
    • A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
    • Now includes over 40 modifiers.
    • Option to place modifiers in the bottom-right or bottom-left corner.
    • Turn any modified icon into a Duotone icon.

Changed

  • Design improvements to the majority of our core icons.
  • Massive improvements to SVG/JS pseudo-elements performance.
  • Significantly smaller webfonts due to higher Brotli compression, a switch to CFF and various other optimizations.
  • Smaller CSS files by using custom properties and optimizing the files for better compression.
  • Upgraded to Dart Sass with modern SCSS and improved CSS properties.
  • Improved naming and consistency of CSS custom properties.
  • Use of CSS Logical Properties to support RTL languages and diverse writing modes.
  • Icon canvases now render at a consistent fixed width. To use the default rendering from v6, add our new fa-width-auto class.
  • We've added mapping support for renamed CSS custom properties and SCSS variables to help existing projects using FA5 or FA6 work seamlessly with FA7.
  • We have changed how our individual SVG files are formatted in FA7:
    • No longer include a global stylesheet
    • path elements no longer have classes on them
    • They default to fill=currentColor
    • Duotone path color and opacity can be set using --fa-primary-opacity, --fa-primary-color, etc.
  • We removed some redundant icon designs, and remapped them as aliases:
    • user-large[-slash] → user[-slash]
    • hexagon-vertical-nft-slanted → hexagon-vertical-nft
    • headphones-simple → headphones
    • toilet-paper-blank[-under] → toilet-paper[-under]
    • vector-[shape] → draw-[shape]
    • film-simple → film
    • grid-horizontal → grip
    • handshake-simple[-slash] → handshake[-slash]
  • If you have custom CSS that selects the .fa-primary or .fa-secondary classes on SVG path elements, they'll no longer be present in FA7. Use the CSS custom properties to set opacity and color.
  • Changed SVG stringification on the Kits CDN. Most importantly, duotone icons must now be parsed based on the presence of an opacity attribute with a value less than 1, rather than relying on earlier structural patterns.
  • We are no longer including legacy .ttf or .woff webfonts. If your project depends on those files, please update to use the .woff2 format, which is now the standard for webfont delivery.
  • We removed the sr-only classes, as Font Awesome's built-in accessibility doesn't use this approach anymore. If you were using them in your code, make sure you add sr-only styles to your own stylesheet.
  • We removed the fa-fw class, as it is no longer needed with the new default fixed-width rendering. If you were using it, you can now use the new fa-width-auto class to revert to the previous behavior.
  • We have removed support for Less CSS in FA7. If your project uses Less, we recommend migrating to Sass, using our precompiled CSS, or continuing with Font Awesome 6.
  • We have dropped support for our official Python Django plugin. If you were using it, you can either continue with Font Awesome 6 or switch to a self-hosted Kit or our standard CSS.
  • We have ended support for the official Ruby on Rails Gem. Projects using it can continue with Font Awesome 6 or migrate to using a Web Fonts-based Kit or a self-hosted Kit.
  • Our official Vue component now supports Vue 3+ only. Compatibility with Vue 2 or earlier is no longer guaranteed in FA7.
  • The React component no longer supports dynamic imports. If you were importing icons dynamically, you'll need to update your syntax to use static imports for compatibility with FA7.

Fixed

  • Improved support for screen readers and assistive technologies.
  • Updated accessibility documentation and guidance to align with current best practices.
  • Downloaded SVGs now default to a square viewbox, with an option to download a trimmed version.
  • Since SVG icons now get a currentColor fill, icons that were previously black might now get a different color. For example, an SVG inside a div with blue text will now become blue instead of the default path color of black.
  • We dropped the --fa--fa for Duotone which we briefly introduced for FA6. You can now trigger the second layer of a Duotone icon by ligatures (just repeat the Unicode value) or enabling a stylistic set (font-feature-settings: "ss01").
